The festival opened with the Japan × Brooklyn Designers’ Runway Collection, showcasing a powerful collaboration between Japanese and Brooklyn-based fashion designers.
The show was preceded by a historic live calligraphy performance featuring four esteemed calligraphy masters: Hakko Ishitobi, Taisho Akahira, Suikoku Yamanaka, and Masahiro Kashiwagi, Chairman of the Board of Taisho University.
Together, they created an extraordinary large-scale work live on stage—merging motion, ink, and spiritual intent into a shared visual experience that symbolized unity across cultures. The performance set an emotional tone for the rest of the day’s programming.
Between the showcases of Japanese and Brooklyn-based fashion brands, the audience was treated to an intermission performance by Jessica and the Muze, a multidisciplinary artist whose expressive presence bridged the two worlds through movement, music, and poetic narrative.
